Whatever combination of factors that occurred last weekend was apparently advantageous to the Green Bay Packers. Despite not even playing a game, their mathematical playoff chances literally doubled in the last few days. Yes, that meant going from a nearly impossible 3 percent to a barely qualifying 6 percent, but still.
And furthermore, Susan, I’m not the least bit surprised to learn that if the Packers do win all of their remaining four games, their playoff hopes increase even further, to a heretofore inconceivable 51 percent, according to the New York Times. That’s better than half!
With that in mind, and beer in my stomach, I decided to check the current betting odds for the Packers to make the playoffs. I liked what I saw, so I decided to sprinkle a few dollars on this wager:
Packers to Make the Playoffs (+900) – $5 bet pays out $50
As long as the Packers don’t lose any of their games, there’s still a shot for some postseason glory/disappointment, and for the time being it looks like they’re going to keep playing all of their starters. Let’s see what happens!
